Just like the seeds used to grow heritage vegetables, heritage pig bloodlines span generations untouched by modern genetics. Many of these breeds originated before 1900! Heritage breed pigs have surged in popularity over the past several years as people begin to understand the dramatic difference in the quality and taste of meat, especially when compared with meat from factory raised pigs. Among the many benefits of heritage pigs are that they are naturally resistant to disease. Heritage breed pigs fed a natural, omnivorous diet supplemented with organic, GMO free feed are produce a much more nutritious pork than your typical supermarket pork.
Our Pigs:
Our pigs are antibiotic-free, heritage breed American pigs, raised on pasture using traditional farming methods. We only feed high quality, gmo free, organic feed from local Texas grain mills. Our animals are given lives as close to a natural habitat as possible: That means no concrete stalls, no pumping with drugs or growth hormones, and plenty of dirt, bugs, and roots! We believe you can care about an animal and still appreciate the sacrifice needed to feed our families. We are grateful for the opportunity to steward such amazing animals!
Our Pigs:
-Have diets that allow hogs to exhibit natural omnivorous behavior.
-Have permanent access to open, pasture or range, environments.
-Are free from routine prophylactic antibiotics.
-Are free from administered synthetic or natural growth promoters or growth hormones.
